Ramban, Oct 1: At least 33 people were injured after a West Bengal-registered sleeper bus carrying more than 50 tourists overturned on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Maroog in Ramban district on Thursday, officials said.
The bus, bearing registration number WB 41K-2929, was travelling from Srinagar towards Jammu when it overturned near Maroog.
Following the accident, police, SDRF, CRPF personnel and local teams launched a rescue operation and evacuated the passengers from the vehicle.
The injured were shifted to District Hospital Ramban for medical treatment, where 33 persons were admitted, officials said.
Of the injured, nine were subsequently referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu for specialised treatment, while the remaining injured were being treated at District Hospital Ramban.
