Srinagar, Apr 6: The Meteorological Department Srinagar on Monday forecast continued erratic weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir till April 10, with intermittent rain, snowfall in higher reaches, and chances of thunderstorms and gusty winds.
According to the MeT, April 6 will remain partly cloudy with brief spells of light rain at a few places towards late afternoon.
However, weather conditions are expected to deteriorate from April 7, with generally cloudy skies and intermittent light to moderate rain across most places till April 8 evening. Higher reaches are likely to receive light to moderate snowfall during this period.
The department said a few places in both Jammu and Kashmir divisions may witness moderate to heavy rainfall, while higher altitudes could experience fresh snowfall. Thunderstorms, hailstorms, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph are also expected at isolated locations during April 7–8.
For April 9 and 10, the MeT has predicted brief spells of light rain and snowfall at scattered places, followed by generally dry weather from April 11 to 16, with occasional light rain at isolated locations.
Issuing an advisory, the department warned that intense showers over short durations could trigger flash floods, landslides in vulnerable areas, and waterlogging in low-lying regions.
Farmers have been advised to suspend agricultural operations during this period, while travellers have been urged to plan their journeys accordingly.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to mitigate any potential disruptions caused by the adverse weather conditions.
