Braid chopping effect: 80% reduction in sales, Gold Dealers Association

Srinagar: The braid chopping incidents have hit the market in different tunes, while some specific items claim boom, Gold dealers claim, they are badly hit. The jewelry market has been hit badly by the braid cutting incidents which has spooked off entire valley.

Reasons may wary, as one of the, gold merchant said from going back home early from job etc,  but believes that the baseline is ‘Braid chopping incidents’.

“There has been a 80%reduction in our sales during the past two months due to fear psychosis by hair cutting incidents in the valley,” Bashir Ahmad Rather President All Kashmir Gold Dealers Association disclosed to INS.

Even when ‘marriage season is going on’ in Kashmir minimal footfall of women to god merchants is being recorded.

“Women are afraid to move out due to the fear created by braid chopping incidents. Our business has been badly damaged,” Rather said.

A visibly worried Bashir said that he used to close his shop at 8:00 pm in the evening but after the braid chopping scare he ensures that he reaches home to before 6:00 pm.
