Srinagar, Sep 25: Police in Awantipora arrested a Physical Education Teacher (PET) for his alleged involvement in sexual harassment of a minor girl in Aripal area of Tral.
On 24/09/2026, a written complaint was lodged at Police Post Aripal alleging sexual harassment of a 15-year-old girl (name withheld) by Bilal Ahmad Lone, son of Gh. Nabi Lone, resident of Darganigund, posted as Physical Education Teacher (PET) at Government High School (GHS), Lam, Aripal.
Accordingly, a case under FIR number 107/2026 under relevant Sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and POCSO Act was registered at Police Station Tral, and investigation was taken up.
During the course of investigation, a police team led by Incharge Police Post Aripal initiated necessary legal proceedings. Through technical and human intelligence, the involvement of the said accused was established, following which he was apprehended and subsequently arrested.
Further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, J&K Police reiterated its commitment to the safety and protection of children and assured that strict legal action will be taken against those involved in offences against minors, in accordance with law.
