Srinagar, Sep 18: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday handed over appointment letters to 29 newly selected Jammu and Kashmir Police Service (JKPS) officers, describing their appointment as a call to serve the people with courage, integrity and compassion.
The appointment letters were distributed at a ceremony attended by the newly selected officers and their families. Sinha congratulated the appointees and expressed gratitude to their families for supporting them through their journey into public service.
Sinha said the appointment letters embodied the trust placed by the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the newly selected officers and called upon them to uphold the values associated with public service
The newly appointed JKPS officers will undergo mandatory police training before taking up their responsibilities, according to the Lieutenant Governor’s office. Sinha said the officers would have an important role in maintaining peace, protecting the dignity of citizens and responding to evolving security challenges.
The appointment of the 29 officers marks their entry into the JKPS cadre following the selection process. The induction of young officers is expected to add to the professional strength of the Jammu and Kashmir Police as they undergo specialised training before being deployed for service.
Sinha congratulated the officers on their selection and wished them success in their professional careers, while acknowledging the contribution of their families in supporting their pursuit of public service. [KNT]
