DGP orders attachment of properties of Pak-based terrorists in Kupwara

Srinagar, Sep 17: Director General of Police, Nalin Prabhat has ordered attachment of properties belonging to notorious terrorists currently operating from Pakistan.

Officials said that the attached properties include 15 Kanals of land and two residential houses, officials said.

The properties belong to Abdul Majid Qureshi son of Abdul Rouf Qureshi and Parvaiz Ahmad Qureshi son of Mohd Mustafa Qureshi, both residents of Kachama, Kupwara.

Officials said the property belonging to Abdul Majid Qureshi includes land measuring 10 Kanals 07 Marlas along with a three-storeyed residential house, while the property belonging to Parvaiz Ahmad Qureshi includes land measuring 05 Kanals along with a single-storeyed residential house at Kachama, Kupwara.

The aforesaid properties, presently registered in the name of the terrorists, fall within the ambit of “proceeds of terrorism” in terms of Section 2 (1) (g) (ii) of UAPA and are liable to be attached in FIR No. 276/22 of Police Station Kupwara, they said.

Therefore, in exercise of powers conferred by Section 25 of UAPA, prior approval has been accorded for attachment of the landed properties in FIR No. 276/22 under Sections 120B, 121, 121A, 122, 123 IPC and Sections 17, 18, 18A, 18B, 20, 38, 39 and 40 of UAPA of PS Kupwara, they added.(GNS)
