Jammu & Kashmir, Sep 15: As part of a media tour conducted by Press Information Bureau Jammu, a delegation of Journalists from Jammu visited the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Central Regional Centre, Bhopal, on Tuesday. The delegation gained insights into SAI’s sports training ecosystem, sports science facilities and athlete development programmes.

During the visit, the delegation toured various Fields of Play (FOPs) and interacted with coaches and athletes across disciplines. The delegation visited the Sports Science facilities, Judo Hall, Athletics Track and Hockey FOP, gaining an overview of the training infrastructure, scientific support systems and facilities available for high-performance athletes at SAI CRC Bhopal.

The visiting journalists also interacted with coaches and athletes to understand their training routines, preparation strategies and experiences of being part of the SAI ecosystem. The interaction provided the delegation with an opportunity to witness first-hand the integrated approach adopted by SAI towards athlete development, combining quality sporting infrastructure with sports science and expert coaching support.

As part of the programme, Assistant Director, PIB Bhopal, Shri Parag Mandle, and PIB Nodal Communication Officer, Jammu, Shri Zakir Malik, were felicitated by Assistant Director, SAI CRC Bhopal, Shri Vikas Bhandari, as a mark of appreciation for their visit and continued engagement in strengthening communication and outreach related to sports and sporting initiatives.

Later the media delegation also visited the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Bhopal, to gain first-hand insights into the institute’s academic, scientific and research activities.

During the visit, members of the delegation interacted with faculty members, scientists, researchers and students. Scientists and researchers shed light on the work being undertaken at the institute, highlighting ongoing research projects, areas of scientific inquiry and the significance of their work.

The delegation also visited various laboratories at IISER Bhopal and got an overview of the research facilities and ongoing activities. Researchers briefed the visiting media representatives about their respective areas of work and explained the significance and potential impact of their research.

The visit also offered an opportunity for the media to engage directly with members of the scientific community and gain insights into the diverse research activities being pursued at the institute.
