6th Assembly Session begins on Sep 21; 9-day schedule announced

Srinagar, Sep 08: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly will convene its sixth session from September 21 to September 30, with the Assembly Secretariat issuing a provisional calendar outlining the business to be taken up during the session.

According to the calendar issued by the Legislative Assembly Secretariat, the session will begin on Monday, September 21, with obituary references and government business.

The Assembly will take up government business on Tuesday, September 22, while September 23 will be observed as a holiday on account of the birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji.

The schedule provides for Private Members’ Bills on September 24, followed by Private Members’ Resolutions on September 25. September 26 has been designated as an off day, while September 27 will be a holiday.

The Assembly will again take up Private Members’ Bills on September 28, followed by government business on September 29. The final day of the provisional calendar, September 30, has been earmarked for government business, if any.

The calendar has been issued under the authority of Speaker Advocate Abdul Rahim Rather and is dated September 8, 2026.

Copies of the provisional calendar have been circulated to all members of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, senior officials of the J&K administration, the Additional Secretary of the UT Division in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Director General of Police, Accountant General and other Principal Secretaries to the Government.

The session is expected to provide the Assembly with an opportunity to deliberate on government business as well as matters raised through Private Members’ Bills and Resolutions.
