The searches were conducted as part of the investigation into FIR No. 02/2015 registered at Police Station CIK Srinagar under provisions of the Foreigners Act, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Arms Act.

According to officials, the searches were launched following recent intelligence inputs, technical analysis and sustained investigation into the case.

The operation covered two locations each in Srinagar and Bandipora, besides one location each in Kupwara, Anantnag, Kulgam and Sopore in Baramulla district.

Officials said the individuals under scrutiny were suspected of maintaining contact with handlers based across the border through encrypted communication platforms and were allegedly involved in dissemination of extremist content, radicalisation efforts and facilitation activities linked to unlawful networks.

An official said the searches were aimed at recovering incriminating material, establishing linkages, identifying associates and facilitators, and gathering actionable intelligence to further the investigation.

He added all required legal formalities had been completed and search warrants obtained from the competent court before conducting the operation.
