The accused, identified as Aejaz Ahmad Tantray, son of Manzoor Ahmad Tantray and a resident of Kapran Verinag presently residing at Prakeshpora Anchidoora in Anantnag, is involved in FIR No. 49/2026 registered under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Dooru.

Police officials said the GPS tracking anklet was installed in compliance with directions issued by the competent court as a mandatory bail condition. The wearable device will enable authorities to continuously track the accused’s movement and ensure strict adherence to the conditions laid down by the court.

Officials described the move as a significant technological intervention in the fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse in the district. They said the GPS-based monitoring system would help law enforcement agencies maintain close surveillance on habitual narcotics offenders while enhancing accountability and legal compliance.

Anantnag Police reiterated its commitment to adopting modern policing methods to curb the menace of drugs and strengthen enforcement under the NDPS Act.
