Srinagar, Apr 21: A bharatnatyam event Adi ashtkam was held for the first time in Kashmir on the eve of Shankara Jayanti at Tagore Hall Srinagar Kashmir.
The event was organised by Save Sharda Committee Kashmir Regd in collaboration with J&K State Academy of Culture & Usha RK foundation of Bangalore.
The event based on 8 verses of Adi Shankaracharya, one of the greatest saints & philosophers, who promoted advait philosophy in Kashmir and set up 4 mutts in four directions of India.
The event was presided over by Akshay Labroo, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar and guest of honour was Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar, Dr. GV Sundeep.
Other dignitaries included Principal secy Department of Culture, Additional Secretary Dharmarth Trust, political leaders Sanjay Saraf, Dileep Pandita, Vijay Dhar of DPS Srinagar, Khawaja Iftikhar of Karnah, Prof Meena Sharma of DU, Dattatrey former DC Mumbai & others.
Ravinder Pandita while welcoming the audience & guests stressed the need of setting up of Sharda University & exploring Sharda civilization while paying reverence to Jagatguru Adi Shankaracharya.
