Srinagar, Apr 02: A 47-year-old school van driver died after crashing his vehicle into a roadside structure near Ghanta Ghar at Lal Chowk here on Thursday morning, officials said.

An official said that the driver lost control of the vehicle near Lal Chowk, ramming into a shopfront and causing extensive damage to the structure.

He was shifted to SMHS Hospital in an unconscious condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Eyewitnesses said the vehicle suddenly veered off the road before hitting the shop, leaving the driver critically injured.

The deceased was identified as Javeed Ahmad (47), a resident of Umair Abad, Bemina, Srinagar.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognisance of the incident and further investigation has been initiated. (KNO)
