The advisory is significant as it warns of fluctuating weather conditions over the next several days, potentially impacting travel, agriculture and daily life.

According to the forecast, light rain or snow at a few places cannot be ruled out during late afternoon hours on April 2.

Between April 3 and 4, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy with intermittent light to moderate rain and snow at many places, officials said.

Thunderstorms, hailstorms and gusty winds are likely during this period, particularly from the afternoon of April 3 till the evening of April 4.

Officials said isolated higher reaches of both Kashmir and Jammu divisions may receive moderate to heavy rain or snowfall.

Weather conditions are expected to improve slightly on April 5–6, with partly cloudy skies and chances of light rain at isolated locations.

However, fresh spells of light to moderate rain and snow in higher reaches are forecast again between April 7 and 9, accompanied by thunder and gusty winds at several places.

The MET Centre has issued an advisory warning of possible thunderstorms and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph at a few places during April 3 and 4.

There is also a possibility of landslides and shooting stones at vulnerable locations, particularly along hilly and highway stretches, officials said.

Waterlogging may occur in some low-lying areas, the advisory added.

Farmers have been advised to suspend agricultural operations during April 3 and 4 in view of adverse weather conditions.

Travellers and transporters have been urged to follow official traffic advisories and plan their movement accordingly.

Authorities said the situation will continue to be monitored and updates will be issued as required. (KNT)
