Official sources said that the Home Secretary chaired a high-level review meeting via video conferencing, with special focus on safeguarding tourists and strengthening the overall security grid across the Union Territory.

Sources said senior officials including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Home Secretary Chandraker Bharti, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, and top police and intelligence officers participated in the meeting and briefed him on the prevailing security scenario.

During the meeting, emphasis was laid on ensuring heightened vigil at major tourist hotspots to avoid any repeat of past incidents that could impact tourism. Authorities are expecting a surge in tourist inflow in the coming weeks due to improving weather conditions and conclusion of examinations across the country.

The Home Secretary also reviewed ongoing anti-terror operations in forested and mountainous areas, directing security agencies to further intensify efforts to eliminate remaining terrorist elements, particularly in upper reaches where movement increases with melting snow.

Sources said a coordinated strategy involving Army, paramilitary forces, J&K Police and Special Operations Group (SOG) is being actively implemented to neutralize threats and dismantle terror networks operating in difficult terrains.

Besides security, the meeting also took stock of the financial position of Jammu and Kashmir Police for the ongoing financial year and discussed its requirements for the upcoming fiscal 2026–27. Officials said modernization of the police force and strengthening of resources remain a continuous priority.
