In the ongoing financial year 2025–26, milk production has so far touched 2,108.45 thousand metric tonnes up to November 2025, the government said, adding that efforts are underway to further scale up output.

The government has set a target of achieving 3,300 thousand metric tonnes of milk production by March 2026, reflecting a sustained push to strengthen the livestock and dairy sector.

Officials said the increase in production is being supported through improved breeding practices, better veterinary services and focused interventions aimed at enhancing farmers’ incomes and ensuring nutritional security. (KNT)
