Official sources said that the Cabinet meeting will now be held today, February 4, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Chief Minister’s official residence in Jammu.

They said the timing of the meeting may change depending on the progress of the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly proceedings.

Sources said the Cabinet is expected to approve the annual budget proposals for the financial year 2026–27, which is scheduled to be presented by the Chief Minister on February 6.

Several welfare measures, including initiatives promised in the National Conference manifesto, are likely to be cleared by the Cabinet for inclusion in the budget.

The Cabinet’s primary focus will remain on finalising budget-related proposals, with only limited departmental agenda items.

Earlier, the Cabinet meeting was scheduled to be held on Monday at 3:00 PM in Jammu but was postponed due to unspecified reasons, sources said.

Meanwhile, the Budget Session of the Legislative Assembly commenced earlier this week with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s address, followed by obituary references.

All Cabinet decisions will be subject to the approval of the Lieutenant Governor.

Omar Abdullah, who also holds the Finance portfolio, will present his second budget after replying to the debate on the LG’s address on February 5.

It is pertinent to mention that Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, will also attend the meeting following his appointment as Advisor with the rank and status of a Cabinet Minister by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.
