In a revolutionary step, for the first time, a 42 BCN food grain rake arrived at Anantnag Goods Terminal from Sangrur Goods Shed of Ambala Division.

Despite disruptions in unloading activities due to adverse weather conditions, the first full rake of food grains (rice) was successfully unloaded at Anantnag Railway Station today.

This 42 BCN goods train rake was loaded from Sangrur Goods Shed of Ambala Division in collaboration with the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and reached Anantnag Goods Terminal in record time, within 24 hours. This is the first time that a full rake of 42 wagons has reached the Kashmir Valley directly, carrying approximately 2768 tonnes of rice.

Recent rains, snowfall and adverse weather conditions were hindering the unloading process. However, under the guidance of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Uchit Singhal, railway employees showed promptness and completed the unloading process smoothly.

This success will increase the availability of food grains in the valley and reduce the pressure on NH-44.

According to Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Uchit Singhal, this achievement enhances the logistics capacity of the Kashmir Valley and ensures an uninterrupted supply of essential commodities for local traders and the general public.

Earlier, a full rake of 21 BCN wagons carrying food grains was successfully handled for the first time at Anantnag Goods Terminal.
