Srinagar, Jan 22: At least soldiers died and as many were injured after an Army vehicle went down into a deep gorge at the Khannitop on the Bhaderwah-Chamba road in Doda district Thursday morning, officials said.

An official said that the Army’s Casper vehicle fell into the gorge near the Khannitop when a team was heading for an operation in the morning today.

He said that the vehicle went down around 400 meters from the road, resulting in the death of ten soldiers and injuries to ten others.

“The injured were shifted to SDH Bhaderwah, where from they have been airlifted to Army’s command hospital in Udhampur for specialised treatment,” he said.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed grief over the loss of lives, saying that the entire nation stands united with the bereaved families in solidarity and support

“Deeply saddened at the loss of lives of 10 of our brave Indian Army soldiers in an unfortunate road accident in Doda. We will always remember the outstanding service and supreme sacrifice of our brave soldiers. My deepest condolences to the grieving families,” he said in a post on X.

He further said that in this moment of profound sorrow, the entire nation stands united with the bereaved families in solidarity and support. “10 injured soldiers have been airlifted to the hospital. Directed the senior officials to ensure best possible treatment. Praying for their speedy recovery,” he said. (KNO)
