“Cocaine is one of the deadliest substances used for drug addiction and claims thousands of lives across the globe every year,” reads a statement issued to INS.

The use of such substance has severe effects on the body which include sudden deaths, cardiovascular effects, neurological catastrophes and behavioral changes, the statement reads.

“J&K UT is already suffering from huge population of heroin addicts faces a new challenge of cocaine availability. The pattern of drug addiction in Kashmir is alarming. Mushroom growth of peddlers, lakhs of heroin addicts and easy availability of heroine has made Kashmir a gold mine for drug peddlers and suppliers and miserable place for the people of J&K,” it reads, adding that the government needs to wake up, plan new strategy, organize and coordinate all departments to curb the problem of drug addiction in Kashmir.

CSFK appealed to government to review their policies and approach to curb and control drug addiction in J&K.

CSFK appealed to society in general and religious leaders, trade bodies, educational institutions, coaching centers, business organizations and transport associations in particular to come forward and play their important and vital role in curbing the drug addiction.
