Srinagar, Oct 30: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said that employee termination cases in Jammu and Kashmir should be decided through courts and not on suspicion.

Speaking to reporters in Handwara, CM Omar said that every government employee deserves a fair chance to defend themselves before any punitive action is taken.

“I have always maintained that termination should be done by the court. Everyone should get a chance to defend themselves”, he said.

He added that many employees who were terminated later return to their posts after being cleared, showing that such actions are often based on flawed judgments. “It would be better to use the court process to punish the real culprits. Action taken on suspicion harms everyone”, CM said.

He also reiterated his party’s demand for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and constitutional guarantees and that National Conference remains committed to defending the political and economic rights of the people.

“Opponents are trying to distract and provoke us, but we stay focused on our mission. Whatever I have promised during elections will be fulfilled”, he said.

He added that the National Conference’s agenda is centered on justice, development and representation. “Our focus is to ensure fair governance, better infrastructure and employment opportunities. This is possible only when representation is right”, he said.
