As soon as the Question Hour commenced, BJP MLA Pawan Kumar Gupta drew the attention of the Chair to an adjournment motion concerning the losses suffered due to natural disasters.

The Speaker said that the motion had been rejected in accordance with the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

The ruling prompted protests from BJP legislators, who raised slogans such as “Jammu Ke Sath Insaf Karo” (Do justice with Jammu). In response, National Conference (NC) legislators countered with slogans like “Statehood Ko Wapas Karo” (Restore statehood).

Amid the uproar in the House, the Speaker clarified that the motion could not anticipate a matter already scheduled for discussion.

“Your resolution on the issue has been listed for tomorrow. You may discuss it throughout the day then,” the Speaker told the protesting lawmakers.
