Raids Conducted at Residences of Hurriyat, JeI Members: Police

Handwara, Oct 08: Police on Wednesday said that in a continued effort to curb unlawful activities and ensure peace and security in the region, Handwara Police conducted targeted searches on October 07, 2025, at the residences of individuals associated with Hurriyat and Jamat-e-Islami (JeI) within the Handwara jurisdiction.

In a statement, the police said that the raids were carried out at the residence of Gh. Hassan Khan, son of Habibullah Khan, resident of Maidan Chogol, associated with proscribed Hurriyat and residence of Ab. Ahad Lone, son of Ab. Aziz Lone, resident of Wahipora, associated with proscribed JeI.

These searches were conducted as part of ongoing investigations to ascertain the involvement of the individuals in activities that may threaten peace and public order. This action underscores Handwara Police’s proactive approach to dismantling the capabilities of the terror ecosystem and preventing any disruptions to law and order in the region.

Handwara Police remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining peace and security. The police will continue to take decisive action against any individual or organization attempting to disturb the law and order situation in the police district, reads the statement.
