Boxing pundits from all over the world complimented her on her mental toughness and her ability to stay calm in pressure-cooker situations. But very few people know the secret behind her mental strength: her motivator Vickrant Mahajan who hails from Jammu, and this Tuesday, she was in The City of Temples to dedicate her gold medal to her mental trainer.

Jaismine said: “I can clearly divide my sporting career into two halves: before meeting Vickrant and after meeting Vickrant. I was always considered a talented boxer but somehow success always evaded me. I would lose in early stages of big-ticket tournaments or at best win a bronze medal. However much I tried, I wasn’t able to convert my potential into performance. Then one day, my friend Arundhati Choudhary, who is a former youth world champion, introduced me to Vickrant Sir when he came to NIS Patiala for a workshop. I consider that the turning point of my life.”

Setting massive goals and staying focused on them became the central element of their partnership. Goalete is the name of the program they jointly embarked on, and she joined his motivational platform for athletes called the Goalete Club. They used to have daily sessions where they practised unique techniques for mental strength. Besides, she read two of his inspirational books “Goalete” and “Goal Is Gold”. The latter especially had a profound impact on her life, and it introduced her to the biggest ingredient in her toolkit: goal-setting.

“After we started working together, my career just took off. I used to be very low on confidence earlier but my performance and confidence started improving tremendously and so did my achievements. I qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics, was adjudged the best boxer at the national championships, won gold at the 2025 World Cup in Kazakhstan and became the 2025 world champion. Such has been his impact on my life that he was the first person I called from Liverpool after becoming the world champion.”

Reflecting on her achievements, Vickrant said: “Becoming a world champion is just the beginning of her journey. Together, we have set a goal of becoming a multiple world champion and multiple Olympic champion, and thus setting a positive example to the Indian sporting ecosystem of what one can achieve if one becomes a goalete and sets massive goals in life. So, the way I look at it, Jaismine’s journey has just started.”
