NCW holds program on Mahila Jan Sunwai in Jammu

Jammu, Sep 26: Vijaya Rahatkar, Chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW), convened a Mahila Jan Sunwai (Rashtriya Mahila Ayog-Apke Dwar) in Jammu Friday to address women’s grievances through direct engagement and immediate resolution.

The event witnessed active participation from several complainant parties.

The Commission successfully resolved multiple complaints on the spot, providing prompt relief and guidance to the affected individuals.

The initiative reaffirmed NCW’s commitment to ensuring justice and support for women through accessible and responsive mechanisms.

The Chairperson commended the J&K Police for their exemplary cooperation and swift action in facilitating the event.

DIG Jammu expressed his gratitude to the Commission for selecting Jammu as the venue for this vital outreach.

The Mahila Jan Sunwai marked a significant step in strengthening institutional responsiveness and fostering trust between citizens and law enforcement agencies in matters concerning women’s safety and dignity.

Following the Mahila Jan Sunwayi, a review meeting was conducted with senior Police and district administrative officers.

During the session, the Commission issued guidelines and directions to enhance existing plans and emphasized the need for organizing more seminars and programs focused on women’s safety and security.

A PowerPoint presentation was also delivered by DIG Jammu and the District Administration, highlighting the safety measures and facilities available for women, along with data on the prevention and detection of crimes against women.

The proceedings were presided over by Shiv Kumar, IPS, Deputy Inspector General,(DIG) Jammu- Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, Rakesh Minhas IAS DC Jammu , Joginder Singh SSP Jammu, Virender Manhas SSP Samba, Sandip Bhat Addl. SP Udhampur, Rahul Charak Addl. SP Kathua, Zonal SsP of District Jammu, Samba, Kathua & Udhampur SDPOs of JSK Range and the Investigating Officers handling the listed complaints.
