Srinagar, Aug 29: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has constituted a three-member high-level committee to inquire into the tragic landslide incident that occurred near Adhkawari on the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji track in Reasi district on August 26.

According to an order issued by Raj Bhavan, the committee will be headed by the Additional Chief Secretary to the Government, Department of Jal Shakti, with Divisional Commissioner Jammu and Inspector General of Police Jammu as its members.

The panel has been tasked to examine the causes and reasons behind the incident, identify any lapses, assess the rescue and relief response, and suggest SOPs and preventive measures to avoid recurrence of such incidents in future.

The committee has been directed to submit its report within two weeks to the Chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.

Officials said the move is aimed at ensuring accountability and strengthening safety measures for pilgrims on the track. (KNC)
