Kishtwar Tragedy: Govt deputes senior officers to supervise relief, rescue operations

Srinagar, Aug 18: The Jammu and Kashmir government has deputed senior IAS and IPS officers to District Kishtwar to oversee ongoing relief and rescue operations following the recent cloudburst tragedy.

According to the order, a roster of top officials has been drawn up for the task.

For August 19 and 20, Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department, Chandraker Bharti (IAS) and Inspector General of Police, Police Operations & Services, Uttam Chand (IPS) will be stationed in Kishtwar.

On August 21 and 22, Anil Kumar Singh (IAS), Principal Secretary to Government, Public Works (R&B) Department, along with Sujit Kumar (IPS), Inspector General of Police, Security, J&K will take charge.

For August 23 and 24, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary) Jal Shakti Department, Shaleen Kabra (IAS), and M. Suleman Choudhary (IPS), Inspector General of Police, Traffic, J&K, have been deputed.

Similarly, on August 25 and 26, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary (IAS), Secretary to the Government, Science & Technology Department, and Vivek Gupta (IPS), Inspector General of Police, Railways, J&K, will supervise the relief operations.

The General Administration Department said the decision has been taken to ensure coordinated response, effective supervision, and immediate assistance to the affected families in Chasoti, Kishtwar.
