Security forces had launched a cordon-and-search operation in Lasana village after receiving inputs about militant movement in the area. During the operation, contact was established with the hiding militants, leading to a short but intense gunfight.

The Army’s Jammu-based White Knight Corps, in a post on X, said: “Contact was established with terrorists during a joint operation with Police at Lasana, Surankote last night. Additional troops have been inducted, and search operations are ongoing to prevent the terrorists from escaping.”

Officials said one Army personnel sustained injuries during the exchange of fire. He was immediately evacuated to a hospital for treatment.

Following the encounter, additional forces were deployed to seal off the area and prevent the militants from slipping out. Search operations were continuing in the region at the time of filing this report. (KNT)
