Srinagar, Mar 20: Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former MLA Gurez Faqeer Mohammad Khan Thursday shot himself dead at his official residence in Srinagar, officials said.

An official told KNO that Khan shot himself dead at his official residence in Tulsi Bagh, Srinagar.

He said that the reason behind him taking this extreme step is not known yet, while probe has been initiated into the matter.

Faqeer Khan contested the 2024 Assembly election unsuccessfully from Gurez constituency.

He was defeated by National Conference leader and former minister Nazir Ahmad Khan.
