Srinagar, Mar 19: In major achievement, Anantnag Police has successfully solved the case of a missing girl from Kokernag, leading to the arrest of the Accused and the recovery of the victim’s body.

In a statement, the police said that on March 16, 2025, Police Station Kokernag received a missing report regarding a girl (name not revealed), and an investigation was promptly initiated.

The spokesman further stated that during the course of the investigation, technical evidence indicated that she may have been abducted by Altaf Mir, son of Nissar Ahmad Mir, resident of Lawaypora, Srinagar, aged 31 years.

Initially, FIR No. 15/2025 was registered under sections 87 & 49 of the BNS. As the investigation progressed, the accused was brought in for questioning, during which he confessed to the crime. Based on his disclosure, the victim’s body was recovered from his house in Lawaypora, Srinagar.

Following the recovery and confession, sections 64 & 103 of the BNS were added to the FIR to reflect the nature of the crime appropriately.

The body has been sent for Postmortem and Forensic examination to gather further evidence. Further legal proceedings are underway to ensure a thorough investigation.

Anantnag Police assured the Public that justice will be delivered, and every aspect of the case will be thoroughly examined. After a thorough investigation, the strictest punishment shall be ensured against the accused and all individuals involved in the crime . We remain committed to maintaining law and order while ensuring the safety and security of all Citizens, reads the statement.
