Srinagar, Mar 13: The government has confirmed that 52 non-locals have been granted domicile certificates in the Beerwah tehsil of Budgam district, Central Kashmir.

This information was disclosed during a legislative session on Thursday in response to queries raised by National Conference (NC) legislators Dr. Shafi Wani and Sakina Itoo during ongoing assembly session as per JKNS.

Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakina Itoo, clarified that these 52 individuals obtained domicile rights through marriage within the Beerwah area.

However, she noted that no non-local domicile certificates were issued in the neighboring tehsils of Narbal and Magam.

Providing further details, the minister revealed the overall number of domicile certificates issued in the region, Narbal tehsil recorded 18,921 domicile certificates, while Magam tehsil saw the issuance of 26,277. Beerwah tehsil had the highest number of domicile certificates granted, with a total of 62,343 issued to local residents.
