As per a statement issued to INS, the session was organised by Indian Council for Cultural Relations ICCR in collaboration with the Aarohi Sangeet Vidhalaya at the college in connection with the International Women’s Week.

Other guests of honour included Neha Jalali Director Press Information Bureau, Dr Arvind Karwani Commissioner Relief and Rehabilitation, Vikram Randhawa MLA Bahu Constituency, Rajesh Kumar Director ICCR J&K Chapter, Dr S.S. Parihar Principal Women College Gandhi Nagar, Rekha Mahajan Secretary BJP J&K & R.K. Tikku—the organiser of programme.

Many prominent and young performers presented their talent in homage to the women power.

In her presidential address, Dr Andrabi said this was the golden period for Nari Shakti in India.

“From Prime Minister Narendra Modiji’s Beti Padhao Beti Bachao mission to the emancipation and empowerment of the women in India in all fields of life, it was the most favourable time for all of us to defeat the notions of women being incapable of contributing substantially for the society and the country at large. Indian woman are now practically in a commanding position in India,” said Dr Andrabi.

She threw light on various welfare schemes of the government which are women centric and how these schemes have put the women in the forefront in every stream of life.
