Jammu, Mar 06: The Jammu & Kashmir Government on Thursday said that the council of ministers in Jammu & Kashmir shouldn’t consist of more than 10 percent of the total members in the Legislative Assembly.

In a written reply to question of MLA Handwara, Sajad Gani Lone, as per KNO, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who happens to be minister in-charge of the General Administration Department, said that strength of the council of ministers shouldn’t be more than 10 percent of the total members of the Assembly as per Jammu & Kashmir Reorganisation Act-2019.

To a question about the names of the departments held by the ministers including the Chief Minister, the Government has specified names of the departments held by five cabinet ministers but has not mentioned names of the departments held by Chief Minister.

“Departments not allocated to any of the Hon’ble ministers are held by the Hon’ble Chief Minister,” the government said, in the written reply.
