DIG JSK Range chairs meeting to curb gangsters, criminals

Jammu, Jan 23: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of JSK (Jammu-Samba-Kathua) Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma Thursday presided over a comprehensive meeting regarding gangsters and criminals in Jammu, Kathua and Samba districts.

The meeting was attended by All SSPs Addl SP, and Zonal Superintendents of Police, a statement issued to INS reads.

The DIG JSK Range, in his review, stressed the need for special efforts to take stern action against Gangsters, antisocial elements and also directed them to maintain the list of Gangsters so that a proper surveillance can be maintained over their activities and they shall also be booked under Public Safety Act.

Break their network of financial circle, seize their properties which are accumulated by them through illegal trade, including extortion, land grabbing, property dealing.

Support system of these Criminals be kept under monitoring and Book them under law including their relatives/friends who support and provided shelter to them, reads the statement.

In the meeting DIG JSK Range also directed all the officers to launch a massive drive in their jurisdiction through their subordinates against the vehicles on following illegal modifications (Vehicles found with tinted glasses, vehicles found with illegal modification for any criminal look, Vehicle found using loud music and Vehicle without number plate.)

He also directed to take strict legal action against anyone found possessing illegal weapons, Land Grabbers and cases of land grabbing and extortion should be taken seriously and anyone who threatens the public should be booked under law immediately.
Parents, Civil Society and Responsible Citizens be involved in spreading awareness against Criminals and Gangsters to support Police in Breaking their network as these Criminals are bad for peaceful environment of Jammu Samba Kathua.

Save Youth, Students from falling in the trap of these criminals, gangsters, who glorify criminal activities.

Youth should be educated through seminars, lectures, public meetings that criminals and gangsters has no life, no future, their end is always bad.
The DIG JSK Range Shiv Kumar Sharma also discussed regarding security review in view of upcoming Republic Day 2025. He highlighted the need for meticulous planning and execution of security measures to address any potential threats and challenges.

All the officers were directed to strengthen all the nakas especially in the border areas as well as the city in the wee and night hours. They were also directed to identify the places where more nakas to be established. It was also discussed that proper liaison be maintained with all the intelligence agencies (Army/Paramilitary forces and other centre agencies) in their respective jurisdiction and share the same on real time basis.

The meeting concluded with the directions to become more Public Friendly and Ensure Strong action against Criminals/ Gangsters so that Peaceful environment in all sections of society be ensured.
