Poonch, Jan 21: A mother and her child lost their lives in a cylinder explosion on Tuesday in the remote Jandrola area of Block Sathra in Tehsil Mandi of Poonch district.

An official told JKNS that mother and her child lost their lives in a cylinder explosion in the remote Jandrola area of Block Sathra.

Shazia was working in the kitchen when the gas cylinder suddenly exploded, leading to the on-the-spot deaths of both the mother and child, they said.

The deceased have been identified as Shazia Akhtar, a 28-year-old woman, and her one-year-old child, both residents of the house belonging to Muhammad Sajjad, official added.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident, further investigations taken up.
