The snowfall is expected in North Kashmir, Ganderbal district, the Sonamarg-Pahalgam axis, and the Zojila-Drass-Minimarg region.

Forecasts indicate a 60% probability of moderate to heavy snow accumulation in the plains of North Kashmir, independent weather forcaster Faizan Arif said.

Central Kashmir, particularly Ganderbal district, has a 45-50% chance of experiencing snowfall, while parts of South Kashmir have a 25% likelihood of moderate snowfall.

Faizan further said, the Western Disturbance is expected to withdraw late tonight, with weather conditions turning mostly dry on January 3 and 4. However, isolated brief spells of precipitation cannot be ruled out, particularly in higher-altitude regions.

Areas with a high impact are likely to receive more than 12 inches of snow, while moderate snowfall is expected in other regions. Lighter precipitation is anticipated in some areas, with little to no precipitation forecast for others, he said.
