Srinagar, Nov 21: Continuing its unwavering efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Kulgam on Thursday arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

“A specific checkpoint was established at Batingo Kund by Police Party of Police Station Kund and during checking one person moving in suspicious condition was intercepted. During search, 36 grams of Brown Sugar like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Mohd Maqbool Lone son of Sanaullah Loan resident of Waripora A/P Ruzloo. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody,” a police spokesman said.

Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 31/2024 under section of law has been registered in Police Station Kund and investigation has been initiated.

“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” police said.
