Srinagar, Sep 13: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Anantnag on Friday said to have solved a theft case by arresting accused lady involved in the commission of crime and recovered stolen items from her possession.

Police in Anantnag acting swiftly on a complaint filed by Shahizda Akhter wife of late Ghulam Nabi Parray resident of Shipora Larkipora, regarding theft of golden ornaments, a police spokesman said.

A case under FIR number 181/2024 was registered and an investigation was promptly launched, police said.

During the investigation, Rehana, wife of Majid Dar and resident of Minward, was brought in for questioning. During questioning, she admitted the commission of crime and on her revelation, the stolen items, including, 01 Gold Bangle, 04 Gold Rings, 01 Jhumka, 01 Chain with a Pendulum worth approximately Rs 3 lakhs, were recovered from her residence.

Further investigation, led to the recovery of additional golden ornaments from the accused’s house, including 02 Gold Bangles, 01 Jhumka, 01 Gold Chain, 02 Pendulums, 01 Pair of Earrings, 01 Pair of Tops, 01 Gold Ring, valued approximately ₹4.5 lakhs, bringing the total recoveries to ₹7.5 lakhs, police said.

The accused has been arrested and the investigation is going on, police said.
