Srinagar, Jul 24: Security forces on Wednesday said that a terrorist was killed while as NCO was also injured during an ongoing anti-terroist operation in Lolab Kupwara of North Kashmir district.

An official told KNO that based on specific inputs, a joint search operation by Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police was launched in general area of Kowut in Kupwara.

The search operation turned into a fire fight, following a contact was established with the hiding terrorists. In the ensuing gun fight, a terrorist was killed besides an NCO was injured, he said.

The operation was halted during the night hours and resumed with the first light of thee day, official said, adding that the operation is currently in progress.

Meanwhile, Indian Army—Chinar Corps in a post on ‘X’ said, “Based on specific input regarding presence of terrorists in general area Kowut, Kupwara, a Joint Search Operation was launched by #IndianArmy & @JmuKmrPolice on days leading upto 23 July 24”.

“On 24 July, suspicious movement was observed and challenged by vigilant troops, in response to which terrorists opened indiscriminate fire. In the ensuing fire fight one terrorist has been eliminated and a NCO injured. Operation is in progress”, it reads further.
