KEMA holds emergency meeting to address Industry challenges

Srinagar, Jun 24: An urgent meeting of the Kashmir Electrical and Manufacturers Association was held on Monday at its Sanatnagar office under the Chairmanship of its President, Raja Nayeem Ahmed Khan.

The main agenda of the meeting was to discuss and deliberate on the current industrial scenario in the valley with a particular focus on the challenges being faced by the electrical equipments manufacturing sector following the recent shift in industrial policy by the UT Government, a statement issued here reads.

During the meeting, it was resolved that the current government policy is showing adverse effects on the health of existing industrial landscape and are on the verge of closure.

It was also impressed upon that the shift in policy is adversely affecting the financial health of the industry and are adding to the number of NPA’s with every passing day.

The members also opined that if the government does not address the issues faced by the existing units the units already under stress will close down adding to the unemployment scenario in the state.

The members were urged to send their suggestions to the President and the issues will be made public through a press briefing and will also be taken up with the authorities at the highest level.

The date and venue of the press briefing will be announced separately, the statement reads.

In his vote of thanks, Secretary General Latif Shah highlighted the association’s ongoing efforts to bring attention to the grievances and difficulties being faced by the electrical sector.

The members pledged their continued support and faith in the association’s future programs.
