Machil receives fresh snowfall, MeT predicts improvement from tomorrow

Srinagar, Mar 30: A fresh snowfall has occurred in Machil area of Kupwara while the weatherman here has predicted light to moderate rains and snow at isolated places.

According to the INS, several areas including Machil, Gulmarg and Sonamarg have witnessed snowfall in the past 24 hours.

The heavy snowfall was going on in Machil when the report was last filed.

Director Meteorological department, Mukhtar Ahmad said the weather would remain partly to generally cloudy with light to moderate rain and snow (higher reaches) at most places with heavy rain and snow at isolated places during tonight.

On March 31st, partly to generally cloudy with intermittent light rain and snow at few places.

However from April 01-05, generally dry weather with light rain at isolated places is expected on 3rd April.

On April 6-7, generally cloudy weather with light rain and snow at scattered places is expected while the weather is expected to remain dry from April 08 to April 11.

In the advsiroy, the MeT said farmers are advised to suspend farm operations till 31st March.

Possibility of landslides, mudslides and shooting stones during above period, it said, adding that thunderstorm, lightning activity with possibility of Hailstorm & Gusty winds during 30th March.
