Srinagar, Mar 27: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said to have arrested three drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A police party of Police Station Baramulla headed by SHO Police Station Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Kanispora Chowk Baramulla, intercepted a person identified as Sheikh Hashmat son of Altaf Sheikh resident of Malda West Bengal A/P Kanispora, a police spokesman said.

During the search, 20 grams of Brown Sugar like contraband substances was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Baramulla where he remains in custody.

Similarly, a police party of Police Station Kunzer headed by SHO Police Station Kunzer at a checkpoint established at Hardu Shoora Kunzer, intercepted 02 persons identified as Nazir Ahmad Mir son of Gh Ahmad Mir resident of Chukar Pattan & Riyaz Ahmad Mir son of Gh Mohd Mir resident of Ratnipora Tangmarg, police said.

During the search, 105 grams of Charas like contraband substances was recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Kunzer where they remain in custody, police said.

Accordingly, police said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at police Station Baramulla & Kunzer and investigations have been initiated.

“We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” police said.
