Drug peddler arrested in Baramulla: Police

Srinagar, Mar 10: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday said to have arrested drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from his possession.

A police party of Police Station Pattan headed by SHO PS Pattan at a checkpoint established at Chinar Crossing Pattan near Pandav Park, intercepted a person identified as Amjad Wahan Wani son of Ab Wahab resident of Wani Mohalla Machil Kupwara, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to INS.

During the search, 4 grams of contraband Heroin like substances was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Pattan where he remains in custody, police said.

Accordingly, police said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pattan and investigation has been initiated.

“We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” police said.
