A private weather forecaster, Faizan Keng in a detailed forecast said that light rain and snow is expected in a few areas towards evening or night.

“Tomorrow, there is possibility of light to moderate rain and snow in most areas of Jammu and Kashmir. No snowfall is expected in plains,” he said.

“On March 02, moderate to very heavy rain and snowfall is expected in entire Jammu and Kashmir. 24-hour precipitation amount can exceed 150 mm in areas marked with red on the map. The low pressure area will shift over Jammu and Kashmir such that it will pull the moisture from all over towards Jammu and Kashmir,” Keng said.

The freezing level height will be lower over north Kashmir parts than central and south Kashmir parts generally. So, the potential of snowfall will be maximum for north Kashmir plains, Keng added.

In Jammu region, moderate to very heavy rainfall can lead to flash floods in some areas, he said, adding that lightning and thunderstorm are expected in some areas of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in Jammu plains.

Strong Gusty winds can also be there in some areas, he said.
