Samba, Feb 13: A hardcore criminal involved in 17FIRs has been arrested by Police, a spokesman said.

Bari Brahmana police under the supervision of SDPO Bari Brahmana has arrested one hardcore criminal namely Kapil Sharma alias Jimmy, son of Kamal Sharma of Chaudahi, Sainik Colony, Jammu, police said.

Police has arrested the criminal in a case FIR number 11/2024 under section 420/323/342/506 IPC of Police Station Bari Brahmana.

It is informed that PS Bari Brahmana had registered FIR 11/2024, on basis of a complaint, alleging incessant violence, illegal confinement and cheating in fraudulently run drug de-addiction centre in Birpur, Bari Brahmana.

Police party was immediately dispatched and 15 victims of violence were rescued and reunited with their family members.

However, the main accused Kapil Sharma alias Jimmy was absconding.

Sustained efforts of PS Bari Brahmana finally led to the arrest of absconding criminal, police said, adding that the arrest was executed by police party comprising of PSI Nirmal Singh, Sgct Tavinder Singh led by SHO Summet Sharma of Police Station Bari Brahmana.

Police said that the accused is wanted in 17 FIRs in Jammu and Samba districts, with his involvement in heinous offenses such as attempt to murder, peddling narcotics, illegally carrying weapons and others.
