Srinagar, Jan 07: While there has been no let up in persistent dry spell across the Kashmir Valley, the region continued to witness dip the mercury in the ongoing 40-day harshest winter period, Chillai Kalan.
As per the data shared by the Meteorological department, Srinagar has recorded the season’s coldest night at minus 5.6°C.
Almost all the stations have recorded a dip in the mercury while Pahalgam was coldest at minus 6.5°C.
At Qazigund, the mercury settled at minus 5.0°C while in Gulmarg, a famous ski-resort, the mercury settled at minus 4.4°C.
In Kupwara, the mercury settled at minus 5.3 degree Celsius while in Kokernag, a minimum temperature of minus 2.7 degree Celsius was recorded.
Pertinently, the Meteorological department here has predicted dry spell till January 14, saying there is no forecast of any significant weather activity during the period.
