Srinagar, Dec 18: To ensure smooth vehicular movement through Zojila Pass during winter, Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri Monday reviewed the modalities and necessary measures, on both sides of the Pass, in a meeting here.

The meeting was attended by ADC Ganderbal, ADC Kargil, SSP Ganderbal, SSP Kargil, officers of NHIDCL, BEACON, MEGHA, Traffic Police, MED, PWD, SDA, Transport department, Health & BSNL.

The meeting decided to fix the 3PM as cut off time from Ganderbal side to avoid stranding of vehicles on the road.

Addressing the meeting, Div Com directed for deployment of traffic police for managing the movement of all vehicles and to avoid any untoward accident by over-speeding, skidding, or overtaking.

For quick rescue, Div Com directed the deployment of SDRF personnel on the way to Zojila Pass besides deployment of recovery vans.

To ensure functioning of the communication system for close coordination and synergy among stakeholders, Div Com directed BSNL to provide the glitchless services. He also instructed for the usage of satellite phones for communication by concerned authorities.

Bidhuri further directed for establishment of a Joint control room and asked all departments to depute their experienced staff members.

Meanwhile, the officers from Kargil requested Divisional Commissioner Kashmir for the construction of a youth hostel to facilitate the students during their traveling.
