Mercury rises as MeT predicts wet spell at isolated higher reaches from today

Srinagar, Dec 12: As a weak Western Disturbance is affecting J&K, the night temperature rises across the Union Territory while light rains and snowfall is expected to occur at isolated higher reaches from today.

According to INS, the minimum temperature settled below freezing point across Kashmir.

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir recorded a low of -1.5°C against -4.8°C on previous night.

Qazigund, the gateway of Kashmir recorded a low of-2.6°C while in Kokernag, the mercury settled at -2.3°C.

Gulmarg, a famous ski-resort and Pahalgam a tourist spot recorded a low of -3.5°C and -1.5°C respectively.

Meanwhile, a weak Western Disturbance is affecting Jammu and Kashmir from today while the Meteorological department here has predicted light rains and snowfall from today.

“Overall, the weather is expected to remain dry, but the light rains and snowfall is expected at isolated higher reaches from December 12 to December 15,” the officials in MeT department said.
