Jammu, June 15: Two women were killed and three persons including a child were injured when a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into gorge in Rajouri district, officials said on Thursday.

They said that the vehicle, Alto car, bearing registration number JK11F- 8759 met with the accident at Targai Budhal area of the mountainous district early morning. There were five people including one child, two women and as many men onboard it when the accident took place. Soon after the accident, local volunteers and police rushed to the spot and started rescue operation. Two women died on the spot while three other injured were shifted to nearby hospital wherefrom two were shifted to GMC Rajouri for advanced treatment, they said.

The deceased have been identified as Ishah Jajan (40) wife of Mohammad Nazir and Shenaz Akhter wife of Mohammad Altaf Shah. The injured have been identified as Ayoub Shah (50) son of Ghulam Nabi Shah , Mohammad Akbar Shah (65) son of Mehndi Shah and 10-month-old girl child.

Confirming it, a police official said that a case has been registered and further investigations taken up.
