DC Srinagar reviews Power scenario, Water Supply and stock position for forthcoming Holy month of Ramadan

Also Finalizes arrangements for smooth observance of Navroz and Navratra Festivals

SRINAGAR MARCH 20:- In connection with forthcoming Holy month of Ramzaan, the Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad on Monday chaired a meeting here at Meeting Hall of DC Office Complex in order to take review of the preparations/arrangements being made by all line Departments for ensuring all basic amenities and supplies  during the blessed month.

The Deputy Commissioner also finalized the arrangements for observance of upcoming Festivals of Navroz and Navratra being celebrated on March 21 and March 22 respectively.

At the outset, the DC sought a detailed action plan from concerned Departments regarding the arrangements being put in place during Holy month of Ramadan related to electricity, water supply, cleanliness, transport, parking and medical facilities etc.

The DC directed the Department of PDD to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the month, particularly during Sehri and Iftari times. He asked the PHE Department to make proactive arrangements for adeqaute supply of drinking water in all areas of the District.

Similarly, the department of FCS&CA was asked to ensure adequate supply of essentials including Ration, LPG supply and availability of all essentials at Government approved rates.

He also stressed on deploying special teams under the supervision of SDM, East and SDM West from tomorrow  to carry out market checking in order to curb profiteering, hoarding of essentials in the market, in addition to maintain quality and standard of the food items.

The DC also directed AD fisheries/AD FCS&CA/Food Analyst/Tehsildars to check quality of fishes/Chicken/Meat and other daily consumable food items so that no adulteration exists in the markets of Srinagar.

The SMC authorities were directed to conduct sanitation and cleanliness drives in all areas to ensure proper cleanliness, besides instructions were given that all defunct street lights be restored on war footing in all areas.

With regard to repairs of roads and filling of pot holes, the DC asked the concerned Departments to identify the spots which required immediate repairing and immediately take up works so that roads/ways leading towards main venues of religious congregations.

In order to ensure smooth observance of upcoming Festivals of Novroz and Navratra being celebrated on March 21 and March 22 respectively, the Deputy Commissioner asked the Officers of all line Departments to ensure special arrangements for pious days of Novroz and Navratra of religious significance.

The DC asked the authorities to ensure adequate water supply and sanitation facilities in Shia dominated areas/Shrines and Temples including Sheetal Nath Mandir, Sharika Devi and Hariparbat so that devotees do not face any inconvenience.

Similarly, the PDD Officers were asked to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the auspicious days and keep proper power backup to tackle any power breakdown.

 The DC also directed the SMC officials to deploy sufficient men and machinery at the venues as per past practice to ensure proper cleanliness in and around the Shrine/temples.

The Health authorities were asked to set up a Medical camps with adequate number of Doctors and Paramedics, besides an ambulance service and other first aid facilities as per past practice at temples during the festival to provide medical facilities. Also the DC directed RTO Kashmir to ensure availability of sufficient number of buses on the routes already finalized throughout the District to facilitate the devotees.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner was apprised about the arrangements being made by the J&K Wakf Board for smooth observance religious obligations during the Holy month of Ramzaan during which thousands of people are expected to visit Shrines.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar has extended his greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of the Navroz and Navratra festivities.

Among others the meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar,  Senior Officers from all concerned Departments and representatives from J&K Wakf Board.
