Srinagar, Feb 26: Suspected militants on Sunday shot dead a Kashmir Pandit at Achan in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

A senior police officer said that militants fired upon Sanjay Sharma son of Kashi Naath Sharma of Achan while he was on way to local market..

The injured was shifted to nearby hospital for treatment and he succumbed to injuries later. By occupation he was a Bank Security Guard, the officer added. Meanwhile, he said, entire area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.

“Terrorists fired upon one civilian from minority namely Sanjay Sharma S/O Kashinath Sharma R/O Achan Pulwama while on way to local market,” police said in a statement, adding, “He was shifted to hospital however, he succumbed to injuries.” There was Armed guard in his village, he said. “Area cordoned off. Details shall follow.”
